The Sasi led team voluntarily undertook the largest community based participatory reconstruction drive ever where all Pakistanis joined with compassionate people worldwide in assisting the people in the earth quake affected regions. During a period covering several years in the 1980s, Mr. Firoz Shroff managed the Sasi Book Store in southwest Asia. In a 7-story building, the Sasi Book Store was well known and respected for its vast collection of books on hand. The store had a well deserved reputation for stocking books on every area of intellectual interest imaginable and customer knowledge that there were almost no books in print that could not be obtained via the Sasi Book Store!
The "go-to" reputation was supported by a very effective inventory management system that featured a database that provided a view of all books in the store, in the warehouse, special orders, shipments and deliveries. The system also provided a channel of communication with authors of certain well-known books.
Although the business no longer operates due to diversification into other business areas, Mr. Shroff and extended family members and associates still maintain a large collection of books that are regularly shared with readers. |
