Sasi Foundation
Affiliated Companies

The Sasi Foundation was founded to be a living tribute to the late Mr. Sardar Mohammed Shroff, father of the foundation's key founders including its first Chairman/Chief Executive and Trustee, Mr. Firoz Shroff. The elder Mr. Shroff was a practicing social worker, entrepreneur, a staunch believer in programs that are socially and economically uplifting. As a lifelong philanthropist and a protagonist of education, he left a rich but humble legacy of championing the cause of learning, entrepreneuring and expanding the social and economic opportunities of his fellow citizens.

Early in 1999, the foundation's key stakeholders formally established the Sasi Foundation as a philanthropic, non-profit entity in deference to the wishes of their late lamented father. Beginning with the theme: Strategic Action, Social Impact, the name Sasi emerged. This initiative has flourished to become a unique global player in the domain of championing, supporting and nurturing entrepreneurial projects that have major social benefits and are also economically self-sustaining. The Government of Pakistan endorsed the Sasi Foundation concept by providing it with a registered Deed of Trust, dated June 16th, 1999.

In addition to the appointment of Firoz Shroff as the Sasi Foundation's first Chairman and Chief Executive, the founders appointed Mr. Israil Menai as its first Executive Vice-Chairman and Mr. Abbas Shroff as its first President. The founders, trustees and sponsors are well known and respected corporate leaders, philanthropists, real estate developers, lawyers, investment bankers, wealth originators and entrepreneurs.

From the inception, the Sasi Foundation's founders established lofty yet unassailable goals to commemorate the names of those great business, social and educational pioneers and national heroes who had diligently endeavored to foment a renaissance in all sectors of society via academic, philanthropic, cultural, educational, and social entrepreneurship. The vision of the founders is that such a renaissance will inspire young entrepreneurs to dream, hope and confidently pursue ideas that advance the social and economic conditions encountered by the majority of the world's population.

As a means of igniting the renaissance, the Sasi Foundation's board of directors gave the Chief Trustee (Firoz Shroff) a mandate to conduct extensive research, to explore strategies, and seek synergistic relationships that lead to projects that are viable commercially and economically but also have a major, positive social outcome. The leeway included in the mandate is exceptionally broad in that it has no geographic limitations and allows the consideration, evaluation and stimulation of any self-sustaining business models and activities which can be coupled with social benefits to all strata of the communities in which they operate.

Social Entrepreneurship Resource Bank
Affiliated Companies

The Idea of Social Entrepreneurship Resource Bank Plc was conceived by Mr. Firoz Shroff, probably as early as July of 1973, although more than three decades passed before it became a reality.

Although originally named The Intellectual Capital Resource Bank plc, the entity was renamed the Social Entrepreneurship Resource Bank Plc (SER Bank) when it was converted to a public company, registered in the United Kingdom (UK). As you might expect, Firoz Shroff, is the founding collaborator, but is joined by an international group of entrepreneurs that are engaged in manufacturing value in companies listed on various global capital markets.

Firoz Shroff's vision for the SER Bank is that it will become a creative force that uses innovative processes to scientifically structure and develop businesses with new strategies and the origination of Ecotomic values, but NOT as a management consulting firm but as economic partners with clients as they respond to ever increasing demands for profits and hegemony in an equally escalating global economy.

SER Bank clients are exceedingly pleased as they thrive and proper under the tutelage and auspicious leadership of Mr.Firoz Shroff. Every client is likely to enumerate several reasons why they believe their SER Bank association is a "lucky break" in their favor. The reality is it is the emphasis on opportunities for knowledge and skills-transfer, training, contacts, multi-cultural understanding and overall bridging the social and economical gaps between developed and under-developed countries that Mr. Shroff transfers. The SER Bank's primary focus is building business-social bridges through its various Social Entrepreneurship Programs. The SER Bank method acts on the belief that a social-business bridge is most likely to succeed when two great forces of modern civilization join forces and work together, instead of each doing their own thing and never share, or share at token levels at most. The two forces are: (1) Business Leaders, and, (2) the Not-for-Profit Organization.

Indus Valley Civilization Store and Restaurant
Future Projects

In the North American marketplace, we will develop a retail concept using a theme based on the heritage of 5000 years of civilization centered in the Indus River Valley. Most of the products will be handmade craft which assumes that each product will be unique and thus can be sold as one-of-a-kind.

Products will generally be in the categories of textiles, furniture, jewelry, clothing, and sporting goods. Partially finished items may also be offered in the handmade crafts section.

When implemented, the outlets will be housed in warehouse-styled buildings and will feature a free food buffet as a bonus for purchase of non-food merchandise. The buffet will include a diverse range of "eastern" (South and Southwestern Asia) dishes. The food center is envisioned as an EXPENSE which will be factored into the pricing of primary merchandise. The menu will change several times each day and is expected the menu will complement the merchandise selection by sharing the culture and heritage with audiences who have little or undeveloped knowledge of the region.

Stroke indentification
Health Tips

A friend sent this to us with an encouragement to share it and spread the word.

A friend stumbled and fell during a backyard barbecue, but she got up and reassured everyone that she was fine when they wanted to call the paramedics. It was just her new shoes that caught on something and tripped her up.

With a little help she got cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. She did appear a bit shaken, but everyone continued to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

It was almost sundown when my friend's husband called to say his wife had been taken to hospital where she passed away. She had suffered a stroke at the barbecue and no one recognized the signs. Some stroke victims don't die, they end up hopelessly helpless, and can live for a long time.

The point of this story is that everyone should be able to recognize the signs of stroke...please read on.
